Unfortunately, there are sites out there that use the referrer to try and validate requests to their site as being valid. If you disable referrers globally, those sites will probably block your attempts to access the site. 

This probably won't affect your normal surfing, but could affect you using certain private web applications.

NOTE TO DEVELOPERS: You should never develop code that uses the Http referrer as a security method. It's neither secure, nor guaranteed to be available.</description>
