If you have a Flickr account, you may already know that you can post photos to your photostream by simply emailing them to a special super secret Flickr email address. However, Tim brought to my attention that you cannot email photos to a Flickr group, like the Oracle OpenWorld 2007 group for example. That’s too bad. An email would have been a nice and easy way to post photos to the group, especially if you are on the move and have a cameraphone.
But, despair not. As of now, you can use your cameraphone or any email program to email Oracle OpenWorld related photos directly into the newly created (unofficial) Oracle OpenWorld Flickr account. You do not even have to be a Flickr user. Just email your photos to:
| future09ideas@photos.flickr.com |

You can use the subject line to give your photo a title and the body to add a description. All photos will be automatically tagged openworld07 and added to the Oracle OpenWorld 2007 Flickr group and the (unofficial) Oracle OpenWorld Twitter timeline.
Snap. Email. Share. It’s as simple as that.
Notes: Photos uploaded to the Oracle OpenWorld Flickr account will be available under a Creative Commons license. Inappropriate photos will be deleted. The above email address will be inactivated shortly after the conference is over.

Excellent news, especially the auto-tagging feature. My current photo solution is to e-mail the photos to my Blogger blog, but I haven’t figured out a way to tag them via e-mail. (Therefore, they won’t be tagged until several hours later, or whenever I get to a full-functioned computer.)
I’m adding future09ideas@photos.flickr.com to my Contacts list right now.
Thanks again.
November 5th, 2007, at 10:21 am #This is a cool idea. There are mobile apps that allow you to send pics from mobile. N95 certainly has one.

November 5th, 2007, at 12:31 pm #Sweet and thanks for implementing - this was the only thing I could think of to do to get around the flickr email limitations but its your group :0)
Im going to use this to post to my blog throughout the week but will also copy pics across to flickr.
Tim
Any idea what restrictions there might be on photography and cameras?
November 5th, 2007, at 5:14 pm #I’m tagging blog posts and photos oow07, but will also join the group.
November 5th, 2007, at 5:16 pm #@Ontario Emperor: I love the auto tagging feature of Flickr. In case you’re wondering, the email address is auto-generated by Flickr. It has nothing to do with any future ideas.
@Dennis: Also, snapping and emailing pictures from the iPhone is a breeze.
@Tim: Thanks for triggering the idea in my head.
@Louis: As far as I know, there are no written restrictions. The “official” tag is openworld07.
November 6th, 2007, at 9:28 am #@Eddie I sure hope so, luggin’ 30lbs of gear for nothing, or getting turned around at the door, is no fun!
