One of the world’s largest technology conferences is going to start shortly. Oracle OpenWorld 2012 will officially kick off this Sunday, September 30. I will be attending and hope to see you there.
Last year’s event hosted more than 45,000 registered attendees from 117 countries. With eight new acquisitions so far this year, I expect the 2012 event to be even bigger, more than 50,000 attendees and 2,000 sessions.

During these two days, Oracle product managers and SVP across different product lines shared with us the latest and greatest and what’s going to be announced next week in the areas of database, middleware and development tools.

It seemed like Ellison couldn’t wait to spill some of the details. He said the company plans on announcing some kind of in-memory accelerator for Exadata in the fall, as well as a big data accelerator. From how Ellison was speaking, it seemed like the big data accelerator will have something to do with Hadoop.2 Comments | Filed in Oracle | Tags: hadoop, oow
