How Big Will Oracle OpenWorld Be This Year?

One of the world’s largest technology conferences is going to start shortly. Oracle OpenWorld 2012 will officially kick off this Sunday, September 30. I will be attending and hope to see you there.

Last year’s event hosted more than 45,000 registered attendees from 117 countries. With eight new acquisitions so far this year, I expect the 2012 event to be even bigger, more than 50,000 attendees and 2,000 sessions.

Oracle to announce big data accelerator that has something to do with Hadoop?

Mark Fontecchio:

CEO Larry Ellison added that Oracle plans announcements around Exadata this fall, presumably at Oracle OpenWorld. It seemed like Ellison couldn’t wait to spill some of the details. He said the company plans on announcing some kind of in-memory accelerator for Exadata in the fall, as well as a big data accelerator. From how Ellison was speaking, it seemed like the big data accelerator will have something to do with Hadoop.

4 Ways to Follow Breaking News and Happenings from Oracle OpenWorld 2010 #oow10

Whether you are attending Oracle OpenWorld this year or not, here is how you can stay on top of breaking news and happenings from the conference:

  1. Follow the real time stream of tweets containing #oow10, the official Oracle OpenWorld 2010 Twitter hashtag.
  2. Follow the un-official Oracle Twitter list, since not all Tweets from the conference will be tagged #oow10.
  3. Subscribe to the OraNA.info feed for greater-than-140-characters posts. I can assure you that for the next few days OraNA.info will contain a wealth of Oracle OpenWorld related news, views and commentary.
  4. To cover the rest of the Internet, a real time Google search of “oracle open world” should do it.

I am not attending OpenWorld this year. I already miss the face to face networking with my fellow Oracle bloggers, ACEs and ACE Directors. Keep the Tweets and blog posts coming. The rest of the world is watching.
